A moderate intensity quake, measuring 5.1 in the Richter scale, hit Bangladesh on Sunday night but there were no immediate reports of casualties or damages.
The epicentre of the quake was located at 31 kilometres south of Chittagong in Southern Bangladesh.
The quake was felt at
2012 IST and was centred at a depth of 28 kms at a latitude of 22.0 degree North and a longitude of 91.8 degree East, the Met office said in a statement.
The south Asian nation sits on active tectonic plates and the country ofter experience mild and moderate tremors.
