For the fourth consecutive day on Saturday, Opposition members in the Orissa assembly demanded obituary reference to farmers who committed suicide due to alleged crop loss and loan burden and wrenched off the Speaker's microphone when they were stopped from going to his podium. Congress
members rushed to the well of the house as soon as it assembled for the day and attempted to climb on to the Speaker's podium, but were stopped by marshals, but not before they wrenched off the microphone.

The agitated members shouted anti-government slogans and demanded that the entire house observe a minute's silence for farmers who died in distress.

Pointing out that Opposition members broke the microphone on his podium, Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat who adjourned the house for an hour said, "I had to adjourn the proceedings as members turned unruly breaking mikes."

Normalcy was restored after three hours, however, after the treasury bench invited the opposition to discuss farmer suicides.
