The Survey has said that the infrastructure sector is showing signs of recovery with “easing of supply bottlenecks in certain sectors and demand recovery in others.” In telecom sector, over 17.6 million telephone connections are being added every month.  However, there is a big

Electricity generation has also emerged from the lacklustre growth witnessed in the previous year and equalled its performance in 2007-08.

Rail freight traffic grew 7.4 per cent mainly on account of the buoyant growth in traffic in coal, pig iron and finished steel, cement and container services.

In airways, the situation improved in cargo and passenger traffic. The passenger traffic has gone up from 40.8 million in 2008 to 43.3 million in 2009.
