Buzz is that Yash Raj Films has paid Priyanka Chopra Rs 6 crore for the Uday Chopra starrer, Pyaar Impossible. And if that’s true, PC leaves behind Aishwarya Rai Bachchan,
who’s believed to have got Rs 5 crore for the forthcoming Rajnikanth blockbuster, Entiraman, becoming the highest paid Indian actress till date.

According to an inside source, the reason for this hefty remuneration is that director Jugal Hansraj a new name and Uday Chopra isn’t a big draw either. Also, YRF hasn’t seen a blockbuster of late. But PC is non-committal on the subject: “I can’t talk about my remuneration, I never will.”

Business game

Her fee has evoked mixed reactions in Bollywood. “Such high figures are good to the ears and used to bargain for a better deal,” says a source with a corporate studio. Counters director Madhur Bhandarkar, who directed Priyanka in Fashion, “If they’re paying Rs 6 crore, I’m sure they must have gauged her market standing.”

While Priyanka is getting this much, Kareena takes home a package of Rs 3-5 crores and Katrina Kaif Rs 3-4 crores. After Love Aaj Kal, Deepika Padukone, too, charges anything between Rs 1.5 to 2.5 crores.
