Finally there was some applause and noise from the Delhi under-22 camp, courtesy Vikas Mishra and Pawan Suyal. On the second day of the under-22 CK Nayudu match against Tamil Nadu, Delhi did the unexpected.

They changed half of their squad for the third match and fielded an under-19 left-arm spinner - Vikas Mishra and called back medium pacer Pawan Suyal (after he could not find place in the 11 against baroda) and both proved their worth by dismissing tabletoppers Tamil Nadu (12 points) for just 144.

Mishra picked up 5 for 27 while Suyal chipped in with 3 for 65.

Delhi coach Rajkumar Sharma had only praise for Mishra: "He is very accurate, and in addition to that has variations."

Surprisingly, Mishra played only three matches at the under-16 level and featured in only one match (10-0-23-1) in the recently concluded under-19 Vinoo Mankad series in Haryana.

"I don't know much about this but I am sure his good bowling here will definitely boost his confidence," said Sharma when asked why Mishra did not get more games for the under-16 or under-19 teams.

Brief Scores: Delhi: 189 all out & 73 for 1 (R yadav batting 37) vs Tamil Nadu: 144 all out (Kaushik Gandhi 35, R Ashwin Kumar 30; V Mishra 5-27, P Suyal 3-65).
