Singapore is ready to roll out the red carpet to Indian professionals, include those from the field of medicine. Contact Singapore, promoted by the Singapore Economic Development Board and the Ministry of Manpower, is holding a programme for engineering students next month to visit the island
nation and work for a week in manufacturing and financial services companies there. A few companies are also expected to make pre placement offers to some of the students.

A similar programme was held in September for students from the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs).

“The programme allows Indian students to visit the country and get an overall idea about us,” Ng Siew Kiang, executive director, Contact Singapore said.

“We want to make it an annual event,” Kiang said about the initiative, which was started this year.

At a later stage, doctors may also get an opportunity to work in Singapore hospitals. “We would also require doctors as we expand our hospital network and we would definitely explore the opportunity to invite Indian doctors to come and work here,” an official of Contact Singapore said.
