Posco Steel Plant, Orissa
- Cost: Rs 54,000 crore
- Violation: Rights of traditional forest dwellers not met.
- Action: Acquisition of land stopped, four-member
fact-finding committee constituted.
- Response: Their rights have been settled.
Jindal Bauxite mining project, Andhra Pradesh
- Cost: Rs 10,000 crore
- Violation: Locals have alleged that Forest Rights Act has not been implemented.
- Action: Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh said the allegations would be examined at the time of considering the project for environment clearance.
- Response: The company denies the allegations.
Narmada Dam Project, Gujarat, MP and Maharashtra
- Cost: Spent more than Rs 50,000 crore.
- Violation: Improper relief and rehabilitation of displaced done, especially in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.
- Action: Environment ministry has constituted Y.K. Alagh committee to examine the alleged violations.

- Violation: Mining permission given without mandatory public consultation
- Action: environment clearance suspended.

Nagarjuna Construction Limited’s power project, Andhra Pradesh
- Estimated Cost: More than Rs 10,000 crore
- Violations: Wetlands was shown as wasteland for obtaining environment clearance.
- Action: Environment clearance suspended, ministry Expert Appraisal Committee to examine report on alleged irregularities.
- Response: The maps shown were of government agencies.
Power projects, Uttarakhand
- Estimated cost: More than Rs 10,000 crore
- Violations: Projects were proposed in ecologically sensitive areas.
- Action: A GoM last week scrapped NTPC’s Loharinag Pala Project on Bhagirathi and earlier Forest Advisory Committee rejected the corporation’s Rupsiabagar-Kasiyabara hydo project in Pithoragarh district. Proposals of three other projects have also been rejected.
- Response: State agrees to no project in eco-sensitive areas but wants financial compensation for protecting green zones.
