Condemning the attack on the Delhi-bound Rajdhani Express by armed Maoist-backed tribal activists in West Midnapore district, Union Minister and Trinamool Congress leader Mukul Roy today said the party was against any type of violence.

"We are in favour of tribal uplift but our stand is very clear - we are against any type of violence. The whole country condemns such incidents," he told reporters at a press conference.

Asked who could be behind the five-hour hold up of the Rajdhani at Banstala near Jhargram, Roy said a probe into the incident would ascertain it.

The leader accused the CPI(M)-led Left Front government in West Bengal for targeting TC supporters by unleashing 'state-sponsored violence'.

"Seventy of our partymen, mostly from the minority community, have been killed in the past several months," he added.
