Three youths, riding on two motorcycles, were killed on the spot allegedly by a military vehicle when it knocked down both the motorcycles, police said on Tuesday. The accident took place on Kalyan-Visakhapatnam road near Bhatodi, 12 km from here, yesterday morning. The deceased are
Sharad Gaikwad (32) Dnyander Gaikwad (25), both brothers, and Anil Sakhare (25), all from Goavkhel of Ashti taluk, police sources said.

The road is used to train drivers and the driver of the vehicle that knocked down the motorcycles was a trainee one.

The military vehicle was at fast speed and the driver had lost control over the vehicle, said eye witnesses. The speed was so high that after crushing the motorbikes the vehicle went for about 150 meters and dashed against a hill of stones and then stopped. Seeing the mood of large crowd gathered at the accident spot, the riot-control-squad was called.

The District collector P Anbulgan said that he would try to provide aid to the kin of the deceased through Chief minister's fund.

People demanded the authorities a thorough enquiry into the accident.
