A helicopter that flew over Nashik and neighbouring Trimbakeshwar carrying a local BJP leader and showering flowers on temples has sent the administration into a tizzy over concerns on whether it had the permission to fly. The helicopter carrying a local BJP leader Vikrant Chandvadkar
flew over the two cities and showered flowers on temples yesterday. Confusion prevailed in the district administration and the police on whether he had obtained a permission to fly the helicopter.

However, Chandvadkar, who is an office bearer in BJP's youth unit in Nashik and deals in the business of firearms, told reporters that he had obtained the required permission including a 'flight plan'.

The helicopter was piloted by a German and was parked at an international school premises in Nashik before it went to fly over temples.

Nashik Collector P Velrasu is enquiring into the matter, an official said.

A police official said that recently, an offence was registered against Chandvadkar in connection with illegal supply of fire-arms.
