A 14-year-old girl was allegedly shot dead by her neighbour on Thursday morning over a dispute on repair and renovation in an apartment complex in Mumbai's Andheri area.  Himani was killed when Harish Madoria quarrelled with her family in Saujanya Apartments in the predominantly
residential Bhardawadi area of Andheri west. Madoria was seriously hurt along with two policemen in the dramatic shootout.

Quoting preliminary information, police said Madoria reportedly grabbed Himani in a fit of anger and tried to hold her captive while arguing with his neighbours.

Some building members summoned a passing police patrol, which tried to rescue the girl, said an official from the DN Nagar police station.

At this, Madoria reportedly opened fire, killing the teenager and injuring two policemen.

Police retaliated and Madoria was seriously hurt.

The injured cops - identified as Uday Patil and Phalke, both from the DN Nagar police station - have been rushed to a nearby hospital while further investigations are on, police said.
