A 25-year-old cleaner died after coming under the rear wheels of a tanker he was travelling in on the Western Express highway on Sunday. The incident took place near Jogeshwari (East). The tanker was in motion when Sonu Patel, who was sitting next to the driver Shravan Kumar Pal
(28), accidentally fell off and came under the rear wheel.

The vehicle was heading towards Bandra, the police said. Some passersby informed the police who rushed Patel to Cooper Hospital.

Patel had suffered serious injuries was declared dead on arrival. He was from Gujarat, the police said.

The police have seized the vehicle and are questioning Pal to ascertain how Patel fell off the tanker. “We have registered a case of accidental death,” said Senior Police Inspector Ravindra Bhosale.

This is second incident on the same stretch in two weeks. On September 1, two youngsters died after the biker lost his balance and hit against the divider thereby sustaining fatal head injuries.
