The Bombay Chamber Orchestra (BCO) will pay a tribute to the victims of 26/11 at the National Centre for Performing Art (NCPA), Nariman Point, on Sunday.
The 48-year old BCO is one of the city’s two Western classical music orchestras and comprises only Indian musicians. It is also a
member of the World Federation of Amateur Orchestras (WFAO).
Members of the WFAO will come together on one stage for the first time for the BCO concert. “Musicians will unite from all over the world for this concert, symbolic of how music brings people together,” said Jinny Dinshaw (79), founder and manager of BCO.
Dinshaw, the guest conductor, has invited Japanese conductor Joe Yamaji for the concert. Fifty local members of the orchestra, 10 musicians from Japan, Belgium and Austria and Taiwanese pianist Soully Chang will perform.
The event will begin with a Japanese choir performing songs composed for the victims.
The orchestra will perform at NCPA’s Tata Theatre at 6.30 pm on Sunday, November 22. Tickets will be available at the NCPA.
