The sessions court on Thursday reserved the order on the bail application of dismissed encounter specialist Pradeep Sharma till March 15. Sharma, a key accused in the alleged fake encounter case of alleged Chhota Rajan aide Ram Prasad Gupta alias Lakhan Bhaiiya, had approached the
sessions court on January 18 for bail saying that he had been falsely implicated in the case and there was no evidence against him.

In his bail application, Sharma said that he had been falsely implicated in the case and there was no evidence against him.

Sharma also stated that the police had been threatened to give statement against him under the pressure of their superiors who held a ‘grudge’ against him.

He further alleged that they were ‘induced’ to give false statements and that no role in the alleged encounter had been directly attributed to him.

However the special investigating team (SIT) had opposed the bail saying that six police officers had reported sick and were absconding. The SIT was trying to trace them. The SIT argued that Sharma should not be granted bail as his release would hamper the investigation and will make difficult for the SIT to arrest the absconding accused.
