Heavy rains triggered a landslide in Ghatkopar area in suburban Mumbai on Saturday, civic officials said. According to the officials, the landslide, which occurred around 6.20 pm at Milimd Nagar slums, buried half a dozen shanties. "However, no one has been injured or dead.
Although searches are on. As a precautionary measure we had already shifted 25 to 30 hutments from the area due to heavy rains," a civic official said.

Three incidents of collapse were reported today but there were no injuries.

According to civic officials, a portion of first and second floor of Pandu chawl near Delhi Darbar hotel in Colaba in south Mumbai collapsed.

In yet another such incident, a portion of a building at Lal Bahudur Shastri Marg opposite Hotel in Vidyavihar collapsed. At Jawahar Nagar in Goregaon, a wall of a room of Mohammed Hussian chawl collapsed. However, in both the incidents there were no injuries, officials said.

According to IMD, Colaba and Santacruz recorded 40.5 mm and 29.0 mm of rainfall respectively from 8.30 am to 2.30 pm.

Incidents of water logging were reported from areas like Hindmata, Kurla, Parel, Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Dadar, Andheri and Malad.

However, road, rail and air traffic largely remained unaffected.
