Over the next seven weeks, 11 of the Indian Premier League’s 60 matches will be played in South Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. Besides the Mumbai Indians’ seven home games to be played at Brabourne Stadium, the D.Y. Patil Stadium at Nerul will host four matches, including the opener on Friday
and the final on April 25.

If you want to watch any of those from the stands, you don’t need to queue up in the hot sun for hours to buy a ticket.

Mumbai Indians, owned by Reliance Industries, has facilitated online booking of tickets for its games through Bookmyshow.com. It has also arranged the sale of tickets — priced between Rs 500 and Rs 12,000 — at 60 Reliance Retail stores across Mumbai, 20 Café Coffee Day outlets and at the Brabourne.

Defending champions Deccan Chargers, who will play two of their home games at the D.Y. Patil Stadium, have also tied up with select Café Coffee Day for ticket sales. The tickets, with a minimum price tag of Rs 500, can also be bought online at Ticketgenie.in.

The Mumbai Indians were “impressed” with the sale of tickets for their first four home games. While their tournament opener against Rajasthan Royals on Saturday is “almost sold out”, the next three home games — against Royal Challengers Bangalore (March 20), Kolkata Knight Riders (March 22) and Chennai Super Kings (March 25) — are expected to get sold out soon.

Even the Chargers are happy with the response from Mumbai. “The tournament opener will surely see a full house. We are confident that our next game in Mumbai — against Mumbai Indians on March 28 — will also be sold out,” a Chargers official said on condition of anonymity.
