Support for Firoze Ibrahim Shaikh (32), a junior college teacher, arrested for alleged raping an eight-year-old student of St Joseph school and junior college in Kalamboli is increasing.

Students and teachers of the college have written to the police vouching for his character and
are also planning a morcha. They believe that the allegations are meant to defame the school and the teacher. Earlier, the school principal Meera Kunthe had vouched for Sheikh's character stating that the allegation against him has upset the students and staff alike.

The source said raping the girl in the school toilet would have been difficult. "There are 200 students who use the toilets in the 15-minute recess. How can a person rape someone in the toilet with nearly 200 people standing out?"
