A teenager was arrested from Borivli by officials of the crime branch Unit XII for allegedly kidnapping a minor from Silvassa and bringing her to the city. Police said they received information that Roshan Bhandary (19), a resident of Silvassa, was seen at Borivli. Acting on the
tip-off, they laid a trap and apprehended Bhandary on Friday.

Jaywant Hargude, assistant commissioner of police, crime branch, said the victim is a student of Lions English School in Silvassa.

When she did not return home from school on August 26, her father called her friends and asked when they had last seen her.

He finally registered a case of kidnapping against Bhandary with the Silvassa police as he suspected his involvement.

"Bhandary, along with the girl, fled to Mumbai. The city police had been alerted and soon as we received

information about Bhandary, we laid a trap and nabbed him near the Borivli national park," said Hargude.

Bhandary and the victim were handed over to the Silvassa police on Saturday, said the police.
