A 24-year-old girl was injured when a Gulmohar tree collapsed on her house and fell on her on Thursday evening. Priyanka Dongarsi was admitted to Motiben Dalvi Hospital and was discharged after treatment. Civic officials said the Gulmohar tree that collapsed was trimmed before the
monsoon.

After inspecting the ward, the ward officials found that the tree could have collapsed because of soil erosion and due to heavy rain.

The tree is located in the Malabar Hill water reservoir that is under the jurisdiction of the hydraulic department.

Officials from the ward office said: “The tree was pruned before the monsoon, the reason it could have fallen is due to the soil erosion as it is located on a slope.”

This is the third incident of tree-related accident in the city in less than a week.

Last week, a banyan tree branch fell on a biker, Aslam Sheikh, on P D'Mello Road killing him.

On Tuesday, R. Shaikh, a driver, died after a tree branch crashed on his Tata Sumo on the GPO premises.
