Yoga guru Baba Ramdev on Thursday disapproved of the violence unleashed by Maoists saying it cannot be a tool to achieve goals. "Change in the existing systems and policies is necessary but the road that must be taken to achieve results should be non-violent," Ramdev told reporters in New
Delhi.

He said that the root cause of naxalism was flawed economic policies and disparities that exist between various sections of society.

"There has been too little developmental work in remote areas of the country and as a result a large number of people feel alienated, which has given rise to the menace of Naxalism," Ramdev said.

Asked if he would like to go to Naxal-affected areas and work with people there, he said "If I get an opportunity I will certainly go there and work amongst people. Even now many of our trainers work in such areas and have never faced any act of violence."

At the press conference, Ramdev also launched 'Vyavastha Parivartan', a programme by means of which the Yoga guru said he plans to usher change in society.

"This (Vyavastha Parivartan) is an attempt to uplift our country and its people. It is high time we rise above our differences and help build a stronger nation," he said.
