The Delhi High Court has come to the rescue of a widow and her three minor children from a poor family whose husband died in a train accident three years ago. The family did not get compensation as their lawyer duped them. The Railway Claims Tribunal had dismissed the plea of
Gargi and her children, as the lawyer did not file the claims petition within the mandatory one year.

Justice VB Gupta said: “This court cannot over look the facts that appellants are illiterate persons and only bread earner of their family had died. There is nothing on record to show that there was any other adult member in the family to properly guide the appellants with regard to their legal rights...”

Ghandy challenges narco test

Top Maoist leader Kobad Ghandy on Wednesday  approached the Delhi High Court challenging trial court’s order of allowing narco-analysis test on him.

The trial court had on October 31 allowed the Delhi police to conduct narco test on 59-year-old Ghandy.
