HT had highlighted the poor condition of the chief metropolitan magistrate's court.

Senior judges who visited the courtroom on Wednesday have assured to improve infrastructure on war footing.

Sources have said installation of airconditioners has begun.  Instructions have been given to replace defunct fans, coolers.

A court source said district judge G.P. Mittal met the CMM for a first-hand account of poor conditions of her court. The CMM who heads all the 90 magistrates in Delhi, had written several letters since 2008, requesting a change of her termite-infested dais. She had also written about defunct fans and coolers in the courtroom.

Sources said a senior administrative judge visited the CMM courtroom and inspected the dais carefully. He surveyed the entire courtroom and checked the working condition of fans and coolers. The judge said necessary changes in the infrastructure of the courtroom will be introduced on war-footing.

According to a court source, installation of air conditioners has already began and instructions have been given to replace the defunct coolers and fans

Chief Justice of India S.H. Kapadia had set up a special bench to solve the infrastructure-related problems of the subordinate judiciary. HT had surveyed the CMM's courtroom only to find that there were no air-conditioners and the coolers and fans were not working.  Even the dais was termite-infested.
