In an attempt to facilitate tourism — both local and international — during the Commonwealth Games, the tourism department has come up with a new, updated website. Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit launched the website at a special programme at the Delhi secretariat on
Thursday.

The website contains comprehensive information about Delhi, its history, tourist destinations, culture and cuisine.

It also has detailed maps of the city, a guide for transport options like the Metro and Delhi Tourist Corporation (DTC) buses and online booking facilities for high-end, medium budget hotels, guest houses and bed and breakfast facilities.

Tourists can download thematic city maps, information brochures and informative videos from the website, to plan their trip better. "They can also download GPS-enabled software to access maps on their phones," an official said.

Dikshit also launched a tourism helpline — (011) 1280 — on the occasion.
