The national capital reported three more swine flu deaths on Tuesday, taking the toll to 38. On Tuesday alone, 36 fresh cases were reported. With this, the number of affected people rose to 1,201. While one of the victims died at Sir Gangaram Hospital on Tuesday, another breathed his last
on September 1 at Lok Nayak Hospital. However, it was reported only on Tuesday. The third victim was a Haryana resident who died at Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital on Monday.

“Swine flu cases are bound to spiral during the monsoon season. This is not an abnormal trend since thousands of people die every year due to influenza. Swine flu is also a kind of influenza,” said Debashish Bhattacharya, Nodal Officer for swine flu appointed by the Delhi government.

Bhattacharya added that the situation is under control and there’s nothing to panic.  “We are screening people at a regular basis and administering Tamiflu to all suspected and positive cases,” the Nodal Officer added.
