The water level in Yamuna rose further on Friday due to heavy rains in the city and release of water into the river by Haryana. The water level touched 205.84 metres on Friday evening. Officials from Flood Control Department said water level may go up further as Haryana has released
nearly 80,000 cusec water into the river on Friday. The neighbouring state had released over 2 lakh cusec water into Yamuna on Wednesday.

Authorities have so far evacuated nearly 2,000 people from low-lying areas along the river and set up 169 relief camps to provide shelter to them.

On Friday, the Capital received 0.3 mm of rainfall on Friday, bringing down the day temperature.

The city got more showers in the evening starting at around 6 p.m., taking people headed home from office by surprise. The light shower slowed down evening traffic considerably.

The civic authorities reported 13 water logging complaints and five complaints each of wall collapse and of trees getting uprooted.
