Budget air-carrier, GoAir, on Friday said that it has de-rostered one of its pilots, pending investigation into an incident involving one of its flights on Tuesday. "GoAir flight G8-105, carrying 154 passengers, circled runway 27 on November 3 at Mumbai twice. The decision to go around by the pilot
was a proactive and a conscious decision taken to be on a safer side in order to avoid any mishap due to some repair work going on at the beginning of the runway," GoAir said in a statement here said.

According to airport officials, the pilot allegedly tried to land the aircraft twice on a closed runway last Tuesday and in the process the plane came so close that about 600 labourers working at the runway had to scamper for cover.

The main runway at the Mumbai Airport remains closed between 12 noon and 6 pm every Tuesday due to the on-going runway reconstruction work.

The work is expected to be completed by March 31 next year.

The pilot has been derostered to let him be available for investigation, the statement said, adding the airline's safety department is also investigating the incident and a report is expected soon.
