“I apologise. It was a mistake. I do have grey hair. But do not enough political experience. It takes time,” said noted social activist Nafisa Ali on why she returned to Congress despite contesting Lok Sabha election on Samajwadi Party ticket.

Nafisa was speaking to media persons at UPCC headquarters here on Thursday.

“We do commit mistakes. I was only a social activist and no family backing of a political lineage,” she said.

Asked whether she had resigned from the Samajwadi Party, she said: “Was I ever there in SP?” But she added: “The Congress has taken me back within a short span of time.”

Nafisa had contested the election against Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) president Rita Bahuguna Joshi, who sat by her side at the press  conference.
