Remember that scene from Love Actually when that guy declares his unrequited love for Kiera Knightley's character on Christmas? And you swooned and wiped away the tears as you blew your nose into your tissue, and thought to yourself, "This is so me"? Well, it doesn't have to be. As John Paul Young once crooned, "Love is in the air, it's everywhere I look around." Thus, it's only a matter of opening your eyes (and your heart) to find love.
Whether you're out of a relationship, new to a relationship or a seasoned veteran looking at putting back a spark of romance in your life - here are five reasons why 2015 will be the year of romance for you.
1 Make a difference: New Year's equal new beginnings. While most resolutions never see the light of day, this time, make a difference, and let this one resolution shine. It could vary from something as small as funny text message to spending quality time sans technology. Do it regularly (even when you don't feel like it), and you will soon notice a surprising and pleasant change in the months to come with your loved one.
2 Be a social butterfly: Expand your network. Meet new people. Make plans. Accept plans. Dress to impress like it's your last day on earth. With technology, meeting new people based on similar wavelengths has become that much easier. This includes meeting new folks at your local health club or yoga centre to striking up a conversation at your neighbourhood pub.
3 Revisit date nights: Often, we're so wrapped up with our work schedule that we often forget to balance our life aspect, and start neglecting or putting our relationship on the back burner. Your date nights don't have to be extravagant - they can be as simple as watching your favourite movie at home to going out on a midnight drive.
4 Say yes: How many times have you made up an excuse when someone has asked you out, and you said no because they were not your type? Raise your hand, if you are guilty of this. This year, vow to go on a date with the least likely person. For all you know, you just might hit it off in the most unexpected of ways.
5 Weekend getaways: From beaches to hill stations, make a quick weekend getaway to unwind and relax. Alternately, you can plan a weekend where you'll just do nothing, or work on a DIY (do-it-yourself) project that you've been meaning to do, but have been putting it off because of other commitments.
