This Valentine’s Day, you can experience a filmi cliché firsthand. Instead of the usual run-of-the-mill dates and candlelit dinners, get a city band to perform a personal gig for you and your partner, while you propose to them or just enjoy their company.

As part of the initiative organised by UTV Bindass, those interested have to answer a few questions on the social networking site, Facebook, following which the channel will pick the lucky lot.

Couple"All they need to do is to tell us their ‘hatke’ idea of expressing love and we’ll send a band to their Valentine to melt his or her heart," says Keith Alphonso, business head, UTV Bindass.

The bands roped in for the Love Band initiative include Something Relevant, Dischordian and 3 Guys And A Girl. Indie artiste and Bollywood playback singer Nikhil D’Souza, whose recent track called Gubbare from Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu is gaining popularity, is also a favourite in the list.

Garreth D’Mello from Dischordian, who recently performed what he called “their most straightforward love song” for a couple, says, “The guy was asking the girl to move in with him, so we sang the song called ‘Baby maybe…’ It sounded like a fun thing for us to be part of. We’ve done two so far, there might be a few others on February 14, and we’d love to sing for them.”

Ask him about his plans for Valentine’s Day and he laughs, “We don’t celebrate it. We do whatever we do throughout the year.” D’Mello, meanwhile, has just launched the debut album — Counting Perfume — of his band, Split, on Sunday.

To participate log on to the UTV Bindass Facebook page and look out for Love Bands.
