Former tennis champ Andre Agassi accidentally hit wife Steffi Graf with a tennis racquet during a charity match and she ended up with three stitches on her lip.
On Sunday, tennis world's most celebrated couple were on the courts for a fundraiser in Houston when Agassi rallied a shot and hit Graf with his follow through. She immediately covered her mouth and headed over to the side of the court. Agassi chased after her to see what had happened, reports www.hollywood.tv.
Graf was seen holding a towel to her face as she left the stadium. "She's okay," Agassi told reporters. "It was an unfortunate accident," added the player who retired from the game last September after winning eight Grand Slams
In the tennis club's training room, doctor Stefan Krenzer was on hand to stitch up Graf's lip. Ironically, he had once paid $70,000 in an auction to play against the couple while visiting Las Vegas.
The accident notwithstanding, Agassi and Graf, who retired in 1999 with 22 Grand Slam titles to her name, succeeded in raising $225,000 for a local elementary school.
