Men are generally happier than women, but the ladies are more satisfied with their sex lives, a new study suggests. The conclusions were drawn from a survey that found men had a brighter outlook due to earning more and fulfilment at work, among other factors. However women were happier with more personal aspects of their lives, including health and sex, the Telegraph reported. Concerns about money were most likely to prevent both sexes feeling content, with 46 percent of people worried about their finances, the study found.

On average an additional 132 pounds per month would ease such worries and make people happier. The study, commissioned by Benenden Health, found that married couples were more likely to be happier than single men and women. One fifth of couples, however, said that they had become less optimistic since getting married. Researchers interviewed 2000 men and women, examining their attitudes to 12 aspects of life.Men were found to be happier about seven areas of their lives - their salary, career prospects, body shape, appearance, finances, job security, and how they were perceived by other people.

Women were more satisfied than men in five areas - their love, family and sex lives, as well as their health and living location.
