Social media just got a new star feature, and everyone’s hooked on. It’s the new ‘confession pages’ on Facebook, which allow you to publicly post any dirty secret without revealing your identity — an opportunity no one’s letting go off.
These secret-spiller pages have been set up by school children, college-goers and even residents of different neighbourhoods, and are a hit with the voyeurs in those that belong to the areas covered, and even beyond.
They are flooded with messages, which are first sent to page administrators who leave out the name of the sender and display the message for public viewing only with a serial number. Within just three weeks, the confession page of Lady Shri Ram College for Women has 600+ posts while the confession page of Hindu College has more than 484.
Posts range from personal experiences of harrassment to love proposals and hate messages. “Most of these messages are entertaining. I make sure that no post goes that can hurt someone's feelings or is derogatory,” says Apoorv Saini, administrator of the St Stephen’s College confession page.
“It’s hard to tell the number of hours that I end up devoting to this page in a day. I monitor the messages coming in, and refrain from abusive ones,” says the administrator of LSR Confessions, who wishes not to be named.
