The doodle on Google India's homepage marked the festival of joy and colour, played with immense splendour in India.

Before this, Google has showcased the festival of colours on its homepage in 2001, 2010 and 2011.

The Holi doodle, however, is not as interactive as some of Google's earlier doodles have been.

Earlier this month, Google had featured a doodle celebrating International Women's Day, featuring prominent figures including, Malala Yousafzai, Mary Kom, Asha Bhonsle, Dora - the explorer and muppet Chamki from Galli Galli Sim Sim.
