Netizens take a walk down scraps lane as Orkut shuts shop Sept 30

Google has announced that it will be shutting down it's social networking site Orkut on September 30. Orkut marked the dawn of social-networking for an entire generation in India, years before the netizens caught onto the Facebook fever.

This was the time when special characters were a part of every profile name. Conversations didn't take part on walls, but through scraps. Those were the days when it was easier to do 'Fraandship' with a pretty girl or handsome boy.

On September 11, Ronak Chugh uploaded a video on Youtube titled "Goodbye Orkut - #OneLastLogin". In the video, people are asked to log into Orkut for one-last time. The reactions vary from joy, to surprise to absolute nostalgia.
