When the investigating agencies have been trying to zero in on the perpetrators of serial blasts in Delhi, six handwritten posters 'warning of retaliation' in the name of SIMI appeared in Nalgonda district of Andhra Pradesh. Police have initiated a probe into handwritten posters in the
name of SIMI warning of retaliation if arrests of innocent Muslims are not stopped.

"We have booked a case and verifying whether it was the handiwork of any miscreants or it has any terror links," Nalgonda district Superintendent of Police Vijaya Kumar told PTI on Thursday.

Six posters -- three in Telugu and three in Urdu -- in the name of Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) were found pasted at different places yesterday in Devarakonda town of the district.

The Telugu posters warned that "we retaliate if arrests of innocent Muslims are not stopped", the Urdu posters said, "Muslims should offer namaz five times a day and women should wear burqa (veil)", the SP said.

Though Devarakonda town does not have any history of SIMI activities, the police has taken the incident seriously and steps have been initiated to ascertain the facts, the SP added.
