BJP candidate from Pilibhit Varun Gandhi, who is embroiled in a controversy over his alleged hate speech, is a hot favourite among the party cadre in Uttar Pradesh, who want him to be one of the party's star campaigner during the Lok sabha polls. "There has been pressing demand among the
party cadre, who want Varun Gandhi as the star campaigner. In the past few days, a section of the party feels that Varun Gandhi could be party's star campaigner in the politically crucial state, which sends 80 MPs to the Lok Sabha," state party leader Hero Vajpayee said.

He said the cadre also want party chief Rajnath Singh to campaign in the state. "There is a great demand for BJP's prime ministerial candidate L K Advani and party chief Rajnath Singh from the party cadre," he said.

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is also high on the list of star campaigners. "The demand for Narendra Modi is quite high among the party workers and they want him to campaign for the party across the state," Vajpayee said.

Apart from this, the workers feel that the urban voters want to have a glimpse of senior party leader and former union minister Arun Jaitley, he said.
