Asserting that the BJP-led NDA would secure a majority on its own after the Lok Sabha elections, the saffron party on Tuesday exuded confidence that it would sweep the polls in Bihar in alliance with the JD(U). The BJP, which is spearheading the opposition coalition's bid to regain power
at the Centre, also accused the Congress-led UPA of failing to provide life security, livelihood security and food security to the people.

The NDA will most certainly win well over 270 seats and be able to form its government without having to seek support of others, BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar told reporters.

Asserting that the Congress and the UPA had lost the trust of the people, he said, in six months, 50 lakh people have lost their jobs. More than seven lakh migrant workers from Bihar have returned to their homes having been laid off by their employers.

Referring to the promise made by Congress in its manifesto to provide 25 kg of foodgrains at Rs three a kg to BPL families, Javadekar said the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government had fulfilled election promise of giving 35 kg of foodgrains with wheat at Rs two a kg and rice at Rs four a kg.

Terming the UPA government as an abject failure in tackling communalism, the BJP spokesman described it as a communal conglomeration.
