India on Sunday made it clear its voluntary "unsupported action" to combat global warming will not be open for international scrutiny but said progress of such measures will be intimated to the UN body on climate change. "All evaluation for unsupported action will be done domestically
and unaccountability will be with our Parliament and nobody else," Ramesh, who is here to participate in the ministerial meet of the 12-day climate summit, said.

Unsupported action means domestic measures initiated to tackle global warming which are not backed by funds or technology by other countries. India has voluntarily pledged to cut its emission intensity by 20-25 per cent by 2020 on a baseline of 2005 but refused to sign any legally binding commitment.

"There is absolutely no question for any international evaluation of unsupported mitigation action," the minister said, adding India has the support of China, Brazil, South Korea, Singapore and many other countries on the issue.

However, Ramesh said India is ready to share with the UN body on Climate Change the progress of both supported and unsupported actions.

"Whatever we do in Parliament (assessment of climate actions) will be submitted to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change for information," he said, adding guidelines of inspection laid down by the UNFCCC will be followed.

"We will have National Communication to the UNFCCC. The format will be decided by the UNFCCC," he said, noting that such reports can be presented once in two years.
