Overthrown by a strong AAP wave, ousted chief minister Sheila Dikshit and her team of six ministers will now have to settle down to the lives of an ‘aam aadmi’.

Sources said these ministers, who had been living in sprawling bungalows, will have to vacate official accommodation within 15 days of new MLAs taking oath in Delhi Assembly.

Except Ashok Kumar Walia and Raj Kumar Chauhan – health and PWD ministers in the Congress government – who chose to stay in their personal houses, all other ministers live in government bungalows.

Dikshit currently lives at 3 Moti Lal Nehru Marg, allotted to her in 2004 when she took over as CM for the second time. Sources said the three-time chief minister is now looking for an alternative address in New Delhi area. “She has shortlisted a couple of houses. She has already started packing. She has a collection of paintings, artefacts, books etc, which are being neatly packed,” a close Dikshit aide said.

Former urban development minister Arvinder Singh, who managed to retain his seat, is also searching a property in central Delhi. Appointed chief of Delhi unit of Congress, Singh said he needs a centrally located house where party workers could come and meet him.

“If I move to my east Delhi residence the workers will have a problem and it will also lead to traffic related issue whenever I’ll call a meeting. I will pay rent for the bungalow till I get a good house of my choice on rent,” Singh said. Singh currently lives at 9 Shamnath Marg in north Delhi.  Ex-transport minister Ramakant Goswami will move to his East Patel Nagar house from Satya Sadan bungalow in Chanakyapuri.
