The first one-dayer was running in the background even as I was shifting to a new house. It was shaping up to be a good game, before the rains came.

I have been impressed with the approach of Ajinkya Rahane and Parthiv Patel. I have never seen Rahane play in the IPL, but he has come across as a breath of fresh air.

He looks solid, plays the pull shot very well. He has been a good addition. I have played against Parthiv in the IPL, so have seen him a couple of times.

Injuries have given opportunities
In some ways injuries have given opportunities to India to try out a few youngsters.

The schedules are tough on the players today, but most of the guys are missing out because of broken fingers, concussion, etc.

Dernbach has impressed all
Another cricketer who has impressed is my county and England teammate Jade Dernbach. He has a good slower ball and it is difficult for batsmen to pick him. The other good part is that he bowls a good yorker. In one-day cricket if you can bowl a yorker and a slower ball at 85-90 miles per hour, you are a complete package.

The past week has seen some debate around the DRS. I don't mind the system because nine out of 10 decisions are made correctly.

It helps the on-field umpires and if used properly, can only help the games.

I don't think player reviews go against the fabric of the game. The ICC has made it fair by only letting a fielding captain make the call for a review, so the sanctity of the sport remains.

Controversial on Twitter
Finally, my former colleague and captain Michael Vaughan has been a little controversial on Twitter.

I don't know what to make of it. It may not help him when he is touring India. But everybody is entitled to his opinion. If he feels he is right, he can say what he feels like.
