Sammy made his views clear at the presentation ceremony and again at the post-match press conference.
"I think if 15 overs were left and just under 100, 86 it was (to get), the calibre of players they have, Dhoni and the other guys who can hit the ball, I thought they would give it a go, being 1-0 up. I guess the ploy I had for Bishoo, to bowl in the rough, they didn't fancy their chances.
Happy with result
"I'm quite happy with the result; starting with the first innings, when we were a man down, one of our key bowlers (Ravi Rampaul indisposed). The way the guys stuck at it, we showed a lot of character.
"The batting came good in the last innings, and Shiv (Chanderpaul) batted for a long time. Well done to the team.
What public wanted
"The coach and the public have been asking us that we go and show the fight. The batsmen saw how hard the bowlers tried to get wickets.
"The way we batted in the second innings, even Fidel (Edwards) faced 100 balls, it (the whole team effort) was very pleasing."
