Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who made a dream Test debut with nine wickets against West Indies, said he was happy to go into his wedding after a successful start to his Test career.
Ashwin said he was surprised to get so much success on the slow and low Kotla wicket.
“I expected to get a few wickets but not so many. It is a very happy feeling to go into my wedding with such a performance.
“The only thing was the variation in bounce, if you were slower through the air, you’d be slower off the pitch. So I bowled a bit quicker. It helped that Ojha was bowling so many maidens from the other end. The batsmen did not have the fear of being caught at bat-pad,” he said.
The Chennai-based is all set to marry childhood sweetheart Preethi Narayanan on Sunday. Ashwin and Preethi were engaged earlier this year.
Ashwin's father Ravichandran, while reluctant to divulge details, said the marriage, scheduled a day ahead of the second Test in Kolkata, would be restricted to the two families and close friends.
