The India team management heaved a sigh of relief as Gautam Gambhir's medical tests, after he complained of back pain, did not reveal damage.
Gambhir has retained his spot for the last two ODIs against the West Indies.
Gambhir had an MRI scan on Monday before the third ODI. Since the reports reached the stadium in the evening, it prompted the selectors to delay finalising the squad for the next two ODIs.
Meanwhile, Umesh Yadav, who will leave for Australia along with six other teammates, has been replaced by all-rounder Irfan Pathan for the Indore and Chennai ODIs.
Mithun preferred for Australia
Pacer Abhimanyu Mithun was named as injured Praveen Kumar’s replacement for the Test series in Australia, starting December 26.
