The IPL's warning to Caribbean all-rounder Marlon Samuels for a suspect bowling action has left his Pune Warriors skipper Sourav Ganguly seething. He saw nothing wrong with his action and instead said there were others with worse actions in the league who were not being penalised.

"(I am) surprised, to be honest. Because, if you go around the IPL, I should not be saying it because we are all part of a competition, but if Marlon gets warned for his action, then there are probably a few around who are worse," he said on Monday.

"You got to be very, very careful when you warn someone and let somebody else go," he said. Samuels was warned after Saturday's win. "I see footage of a lot of bowlers around the world. I think his action is fine. The problem is they haven't been able to hit him into the stands. I just told him 'keep bowling those yorkers and we'll see what happens'."

Past suspension
Samuels has been banned in the past by the ICC for chucking. He was cleared after undergoing remedial action.

Ganguly said: "Whoever has done it has got to be careful because Marlon has bowled for the West Indies for two years and hasn't been warned, has bowled in the first three (IPL) games and he hasn't been warned. I don't know what he did differently to be warned." If Samuels is reported again, he will be banned from bowling for the rest of the season.
