Gautam Gambhir is likely to miss the West Indies tour due to shoulder injury and according to some media reports Suresh Raina will lead the Indian team in his absence. Kolkata Knight Riders' physiotherapist Andrew Leipus has advised six weeks rest for Gambhir to nurse his "sore shoulder". In Leipus
opinion, Gambhir should avoid both batting and throwing for four to six weeks. Leipus has also informed the the BCCI that Gambhir needs regular supervision during this period.

Meanwhile, Gautam Gambhir has said that Liepus did not discuss the extent of his shoulder injury with him. If this claim is true then the KKR management will have to answer some tough questions from the BCCI.

The Board of Cricket Control in India on Thursday contradicted Gautam Gambhir's version that he was unaware about the seriousness of his injured shoulder. According to TV reports quoting sources within the BCCI, Gambhir knew about the situation and questioned the possibility of him choosing club over country. There are also reports that the BCCI is asking about the controversy from the KKR management.

Gambhir's shoulder injury occurred during the World Cup final match while trying to take a catch.

Overhaul FTP or be ready to witness players making choices

Is the BCCI unfair in expecting its marquee players, in whom they've invested so much, to represent the country in an international game? Or, are the broadcasters unreasonable in insisting that India play their star players each time, since revenues plummet the moment Sachin Tendulkar or MS Dhoni abstain?
