Setting all speculations about his ouster at rest, Board of Cricket Control Board of India (BCCI) chief N Srinivasan on Sunday said he enjoyed full support of the members and would continue to dispense his duty as the board president.

Reading out a carefully-worded statement to the press after meeting T20 chairman Rajeev Shukla and BCCI vice-president Arun Jaitley in Kolkata, he said, “Nobody has asked me to resign. I have a job to do and I will continue to do it. I have done nothing wrong, will not allow myself to be forced to quit.”

He, however, admitted that the last few days had been difficult for the BCCI and for him. Srinivasan dismissed the reports about a revolt against him in BCCI, he said, “It is completely untrue. There is complete unity.”

He announced setting up of a three-member commission to probe the allegations against his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan who has been arrested on charges of betting.

Srinivasan reiterated that the probe against his son-in-law and others would be carried out without “fear or favour”.

The enquiry commission, he said, will have two members of the T20 operations commitee and an independent person and that he had no role in it.

“I am not part of the BCCI enquiry commission (probing spot-fixing), will not play any role in this commission, besides an independent person will also be part of the commission,” he said replying to a question.

Earlier, the BCCI suspended Chennai Super Kings CEO Gurunath Meiyappan, pending inquiry into his alleged role in spot-fixing.

A four-member Mumbai Police team carried out searches at his Chennai residence.
