The Pune Warriors India (PWI) would not mind forgetting the two years they have spent in the Indian Premier League (IPL) so far.
Having finished second last in their inaugural season in 2011 and last in 2012, the franchise would be hoping for a drastic change in fortunes. The dismal show forced PWI to go back to the drawing board in the off-season and chalk out a plan for the 2013 IPL.
For starters, the Pune team decided to not continue with the services of the ageing Sourav Ganguly. They made smart buys in the auction.
While Yuvraj Singh's return is likely to strengthen the mindset of the squad even before the season begins.
The team brought in mystery spinner Ajantha Mendis of Sri Lanka. Apart from which, they added Ranji Trophy's standout performer Abhishek Nayar to their ranks.
They included the upcoming South African speedster Kane Richardson.
Also, PWI decided to swap their injury-prone pacer Ashish Nehra for Delhi Daredevil's Ross Taylor. With most bases covered, PWI will hope to take the battle to the remaining teams.
