It was during last year’s IPL that AB de Villiers proposed to his girlfriend Danielle Swart at the Taj Mahal. And now a year on, the South African cricketer has tied the knot with his long-time acquaintance in Johannesburg on Saturday.
Swart, 24, who lives and works in Cape Town, met
de Villiers six years ago at her father’s lodge outside in Limpopo (north South Africa).
However, there will be little time for de Villers for honeymoon as the batsman is set to appear for his local franchisee Titans in the semifinals of the national Twenty20 tournament.
Which means that his IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore will miss his services at least for their opening encounter against Mumbai Indians on April 4.
And he could potentially land in India only after April 10th, if the Titans qualify for the final, which is scheduled for April 7. In de Villiers absence, either Sri Lankan Tillakaratne Dilshan or Tamil Nadu’s Arun Karthik will do the wicketkeeping duty.
