They too make the grade: the next five schools in central Delhi

They may not have made it to the Top Ten, but they hold as much promise as their crowned counterparts. Here is a list of other options in central Delhi.

* St Columba’s School, Ashok Place
Established in the year 1941, the school offers special/remedial classes for the students who don’t manage to perform well academically and also for the disabled. The all boy’s school has a swimming pool, a cricket pitch, football and basketball grounds and excellent coaching facilities.

* Mater Dei School, Tilak Marg
Established in 1956, the school has a ventilated, spacious and properly stocked library, and has state–of-the-art labs for various subjects. There are separate computer labs for both junior and senior wings.The school has a paper recycling, and  water harvesting plant, and has Educomp smartclasses. The canteen provides nutritious and hygienically cooked food. 

* Presentation Convent, Shyama Prasad Mukherji Marg
The school has an eco club, a language club’, ECLAT, health club, heritage club, child rights club and human rights club. NCC sports such as badminton, basketball, kho-kho, softball, table tennis, taekwondo and volley ball are encouraged. The library stocks 25,000 books as well as 27 periodicals and journals, five newspapers and 400 CDs.

* Manav Sthali, New Rajendra Nagar
Established on October 2, 1957, the school offers fine arts as a subject with options such as painting, art & craft, sculpture, music & dance and dramatics. It has a science and a non-science lab. The non-science lab includes a computer lab, multimedia, media studies and fashion studies.The drivers of the school buses are appointed after police verification.

* GD Salwan Public School, Old Rajinder Nagar
A fully-equipped gymnasium, playground, variety of sports equipment and accessories are available for the students. The school has various 6 subject based labs and 18 IT-enabled learning rooms and two auditoriums: one indoor and the other open-air. The school library has a resource center for teachers for academic related reference books and computers.
