The Capital's top football club Hindustan FC today launched a women's team with the unveiling of team jersey here. At a press conference here, Hindustan FC president Sushil Pandit said that the decision to launch the team was in line with the club philosophy to support women’s football. “Delhi Soccer Association is looking to start its women's league and Hindustan FC would not want to be left behind," Pandit said.
Good day for Goa
Kolkata: All three Kolkata teams lost in what turned out to be a good day for teams from Goa and Mumbai. Leading the way were defending champions Dempo who humiliated Mohun Bagan 3-0 in Margao. Churchill Brothers beat United SC 2-1 the scoreline flattering doe the losers given how listless they looked in Kolkata and in Shillong, Lajong dominated Pailan Arrows to notch up a 3-1 win. Mumbai FC showed their comeback against Mohun Bagan was no fluke beating ONGC 1-0.
Hiddink to retire
The Hague: Dutch football coach Guus Hiddink will put an end to his illustrious coaching career at the end of the season. Hiddink has led both the Netherlands and South Korea to the World Cup semis, took Russia to the Euro semis, and won the Champions League with PSV Eindhoven. “I’ve still got the energy and still get a real buzz each time I step out onto a pitch, but I have to be careful not to stay on too long,” said Hiddink, whose contract with Anzhi Makhachkala runs out in mid-2013.
